the host & Property

Cheryl Hansen is your host at Stella’s Homestead. Her great-grandfather, Robert William Leid, purchased his first farm on top of historic Coppei Mountain in 1889. The original blacksmith shop, sheds, and water cistern exist today. Over seven decades the family worked the wheat fields, originally with horse and mule-drawn combines, later using tractor-pulled combines, and then more mechanized equipment.

History

Cheryl’s parents, Jim and Geraine Hansen, married in 1947 and settled where Stella’s Homestead is located today, 3 miles from the original Hansen-Leid Homestead. Stella’s Homestead grew out of the Hansen legacy of raising Black Angus cattle and wheat farming on the S Fork Coppei Creek, where Cheryl welcomes family and private events.
